- Deere 410e, international 300 Utility, Ford 8n
Hello all,
I am looking to upgrade my utility tractor. I Just got another vacant land parcel roughly 11 acres, It came with an old worn out ford 8n and brush hog, While this tractor works for some brush hogging, it burns an unbelievable amount of oil, and tires are shot, and its just weak and tired in every aspect. I also have a 1955 international 300 utility, in decent shape, just working on getting it running, and finding missing parts is a challenge and it is still an older tractor, if i put enough money into it it might be workable.
What I need a utility tractor for is, the back 6 acres or so was at one point in its life farmed, but plowed, and then let grow wild. so it is very bumpy, and filled with horrible weeds. The goal is to have horse pasture back there, however I need to get the land ready to plant a smoother pasture grass. I have a KingKutter 20-18 6.5' disc, I need a tractor to pull it, from the specs I read anything around 35hp or so will do the job, So this for sure puts the old 8n out, this will be going up for sale shortly. I would like to move into a diesel tractor, and have been looking at the deere 2150's or 1020's, I am looking to spend 4-7k on something.
I do excavating for a living, I have a john deere 450 dozer, and 410e backhoe/loader. I do not need a utility tractor with a loader or backhoe since I have a great tractor for that already, I need something with a 3 point, and PTO, I also have a 753 bobcat, and 320 mini excavator. Bob cat has a 3 point attachment for the front, but as far as driving backwards in that pulling the disk around, I don't think is going to get the job done correctly.
After discing the rear field ( all topsoil right now about 1.5' deep, then loamy wet sand) I will only need the tractor for mowing, brush hog, moving hay trailer around, and little jobs like that, Depending on how the lawn and pasture grow, I might only need a nice 0 turn mower, and will be able to sell the tractor and disc down the road.
So I don't want to spend all my time fixing and working on tractors, I have enough construction equipment to keep me busy. I would prefer diesel since I always have it on hand at the shop.
my thought is sell the 8n, and 300 utility, and look for something similar sized to the 300 in diesel.
Other than Deere, not sure what I should look for? models? opinions on what I do or do not need?
any thoughts would be great thanks so much, been lurking on the site for a while, but finally posting.
