I know this is a dumb question but I just bought this property which came with a 95 JD 6400. I don't have a manual yet and have never owned a tractor before. It has a MX 15 attached and I don't know how to disconnect the lines going to the bush hog. Looks like something needs to release the ball bearings inside the socket. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

There are no dumb questions. ;)

You just slide/push the outside ring that captures the ball bearings towards the tractor. Do the opposite to reconnect the coupling.

video..(listen carefully due to the Indian accent which makes you feel like you are at Motel6 or have a computer question)..

Thanks, I'll try that.

Make sure you lower it down all the way first, or you will have a hard time getting the lines to reconnect afterwards.

I'm not sure where the ring would be on these? download_20150618_120159.jpegdownload_20150618_120213.jpeg

It's obviously something simple and I don't see it so its killing me. I will have to go into hiding after I find the answer.

So just pull hard on the hose to remove it?

Sometimes it helps to push forward on the hose you are trying to pull out before pulling it out.

I had the thought going through my head that your couplings were of the push/pull vintage.
Glad that you had the expert advise to get it figured out.
One reason I believe they were used, was with breakaway equipment that allowed for the hyd. hoses to disconnect without operator help, thus to avoid pulling a hose apart and have oil spraying all over.
Keep the area clean of dirt so it doesn't get into your hyd. system. The caps help that, but are not the complete answer.
