Yes a air compressor with electric motor. I hear they have a vibration activation model?

For an electric compressor I'd get a meter that runs on 120vac and tie it to the pressure switch that turns it off and on. Even if it's a 220 volt machine you can tap either leg, it isn't going to run on just one. Here's what you need, pretty reasonable too.
