Fireworks?

Did any of you buy fireworks for the 4th?

If so, did the fireworks have a warning label stating that you should not shoot the fireworks off the top of your head? If not, I see a major lawsuit coming down the pike.

This years winner of the Darwin award.

Many moons ago we had Mortar practice in the Army. One particular one was small, about 2+ feet long and a couple inches in diameter. We would jam the base in the ground and someone would drop a round in it, and poof it would go. I really entertained the thought of putting the base on my thigh for accuracy but I whussed out. John Wayne would have, but not me. Now I am really glad I didn't.

Unfortunately stupid isn't a regional thing... It tends to be more related to age and enhanced with alcohol. Seriously, how many of us thought that we were immortal at 20-30 years old?

Darwin is working overtime, when something dreadful like this happens. The thrust to get this aerial display 500'-700' or further up in the air would have to be pretty powerful. The hard ground is needed for the thrust to be transferred upward. On this Darwin candidate, the thrust went the path of least resistance, ergo thru his head.

Reminds me of the young kid in Texes who ignored the no swimming warning and said F the gators, you gessed it, gator diner. Have to wonder what went through his mind when being thrasher around the bottom of the water before being eaten?

This summer we are dry, dry -etc much earlier than normal. Hence, the wildfire season kicked off about a month ago. I live waaay out in the neather lands and am so glad that the neighbors held off on the fireworks this year. I think everybody in this area gained a certain degree of knowledge from the wildfire that came thru this area last summer.
