Just remembered I also have heard a hydraulic hissing noise a few times. It was right when I started the tractor and it would go away in about 5 seconds. There was not enough time and I didn't really think to check for hydraulic functions when it was hissing.

OK, thank you all very much for your help. I am getting somewhere now.

I have just had the arms lift fully, which is progress. But now they are stuck up?

I imagine that this is something with the pump? Is it still something I can look into myself?

Install a pressure gauge and see if the valve or pump is working correctly.

ok, got it going. there is a screw that allows the return of fluid and that was closed. Now its working beautifully! Thank you all for your help.

Yeah, that's an adjustable valve to control the drop speed. All the way closed and the arms will stay up.
