New Kubota F3990 - anyone buy one yet?

we have sold several. Like the previous models, they are great mowers. It does have the same DPF problem the B3350 has, its same reformer system. Its only a cold weather problem so unless you mow snow (or run a snow blower) it should not be an issue. I trust Kubota will have the problem licked.

What a difference a year and a half makes. :D I bought a small Kubota Z122r for my wife to use to help me mow home acreage. She loves it. A couple of weeks ago I traded the F2680e to a ZD326rp with 60" rear discharge deck for use on my level rental property. Brought the ZD326 home and tried it on some fairly steep areas and somewhat impressed but won't be trading off my F3080 4wd.
The Z122 is a little guy and not the right tool for multi acreage but mowing in tight spaces... dang I don't know how you beat it. Power too. For the price, I will sing its praises regardless of the thread title. Sorry, loving mine. Yeah... I'm a BX owner too so disqualify me if you must.

Dragoneggs: You do know the F series is the next step for you, don't you? And this post will be available for rereading in a couple of years so consider carefully your reply.:D

I bought a F3680 recently and talked to several dealers about F series. The F3990 has a serious issue with DPFs. I was looking at a F3680 that was traded for a F3990. As I recall the conservation in 9 months the F3990 was in the shop 4 times for DPF issues. To my knowledge it's only that 4 cly motor, it's in the F3990 and one of their tractors as well.

Soooo do your research reallll well before popping for one.

We have several out and have found that short burst operating or low RPM operation is the problem. To run at or above 1/2 throttle even during winter operation of broom and blowers did not bother the units. Ten minute idle for warm up and ten minutes to clean the driveway did cause problems. Kubota engineers are working through this problem and hope to have solved. We all know good operation of diesel engines require a warm engine. Snow removal is hard on any tractor do to the cold temps.

2 Dealers i been looking at the F-Series mowers at, wont even sell the F3990, unless somebody insists on one. They sell plenty of F2690 though, which is what i'm about to buy. They have no listing on Shopmanuals though, at least for the F2690. Has anyone been able to buy on yet, or are they just not available?

I suspect they do not want to put up with the DPF problems those F3990 motors have.

Right you are! Bought a F2690 yesterday and i found out that they had sold several F3990's to the City, of which all came back permanently after several attempts to fix them. They ended up with F2690's.

Congratulation Pete, you will love this machine, did to purchase the snow blower at the same time?

Thanks Dan.
Got me the 57 inch blower with manual chute, but it has to be brought in and delivered later.
What is being delivered on Monday, is a F2690 with 60 inch S.D. deck
Negotiated some free stuff after we had agreed on a tradein value for my GR2120 and the difference in cash, which is cheaper then financing it....
Free: Drift cutters, Weights, 12 sheer pins for the blower, Shop and Parts Manual

Nice deal, congratulations again, especially the shop & parts manuals, I always buy those after the fact. You'll really enjoy what the power and what that 57" blower can do. Funny enough I have not broken a sheer pin yet, knock on wood. I might suggest (assuming that you are on a gravel driveway) is to raise the skies up a wee bit maybe to an 1" for the first few snow falls until you build up a nice base, then you can drop them back down again. I blew lots of gravel on to the grass the first year, tins of raking stones in the spring.
