Here is the first building to go up on the new property... Got the idea from a pic on the internet. Built so the tractor can reach in and grab a rack of wood with the FEL.

Nice. Looks very much like mine except using new lumber. I filled under the floor with rock before I put the flood down to minimize the potential for critters to take up residence. They really like spots like that.

Thanks, I plan to pull it to the side with the tractor, and put crushed and Portland mix down once we have built and done final grading.

very nice, I really like that you went a little overboard on the bracing, in the long haul, that will make the difference in how well it holds up compared to others who didn't do that. It looks like you just have one bolt holding up your beams at the top of your posts, I would have at least two. Might never make a difference, but then again, it might.

Do you have any issues with rot there? Here, we wouldn't leave our ends open like that because that's where the wood begins to rot. PT wood rots, it just takes longer then untreated wood.

Thanks, the short overhang is a mistake on my part. I built the roof before I looked for the sheeting, hence the short tin overhang. The rot will set in long after I've moved on. Usually good for 20 yrs. The marine plywood should fail before that.
The snow load here is around 75lbs psf, so if i'm seeing issues, I will install 2x4 jack posts on the uprights.

Looks good! I need to build about 8 of those down along my driveway so that I can store 1-2 years of wood in advance. Right now I am using pallets (with tarps on top for the final year) and it looks pretty decrepit, like maybe the Clampits live here. Would really like to cycle in some nicer looking woodsheds as I start stacking the next cycle.

Look a lot like mine. 6x12 stacked 7' high holds about 4 cords. Got 4 of them.
Floor is 4/4 oak with 2" gap between boards so air flows. I tow them around the farm to where I'm clearing or thinning to fill.

Build 'em in the shop, haul out in the drive to hose down with paint.

Yours is one of the pics I saved to pattern mine from! :thumbsup:, The other was open like mine, but was't mobile, so I built a hybrid. Thanks for letting me copy a nice build!

Here is a picture of where I stored my wood up until a couple weeks ago. It was a pig pen that I turned into wood storage.

I have taken this shed down and am planning to build a 45x72 barn starting in September. It will have an awning on the east side 14x72. That should give me enough room to store lots of wood and park my trailer in front of the wood.

This is all that's left currently.

Only thing I might do differently would be to use some screen/wire mesh for that bottom board or two so more airflow around the lower back of the wood. Small enough wire mesh to keep bigger critters out but mice etc will be getting in no matter so something like 1/4" bird/wire screen. dont think my tractor could move it even half full of wood but then it is mid sized CUT.
