Stolen truck

You are definitely right about the crime rate after Katrina. But unfortunately, Rita and Ike didn't wash out all of the scumbags. I lived in Friendswood at that time... Five years AFTER Hurricane Ike there were still gangs (not families) living in the Holiday Inn there in Houston. The tab was STILL being picked up by Uncle Sam.

Every morning around 9:00 or 10:00, they would waltz out, in their African garb, to go have a free breakfast, shop for a while, then swing back for a free lunch. Leaving that golden nest was the last thing on their minds. You talk about abusing the aide foundations... you couldn't, and haven't, gotten rid of those deadbeats with dynamite.

No doubt they're still there and probably living in upscale housing (Government paid for), driving very nice Ford 7.3 CC trucks, and eating well on free meals. And probably selling paint spray systems on the side for drum money.

Finally!!! Someone can validate what I experienced at Holiday Inns! In those days my job entailed 80% travel all over the US and some foreign countries. I stayed at Holiday Inns most of the time for the Priority rewards. I did a job in Philly and there were three Katrina refugee families on the same floor. I simply had to change hotels after a week. Could not sleep at night due to a dozen kids wrestling and yelling in the rooms. No breakfast as the women would arise early and carry the entire cache back to the rooms. I endured this for many years. They were in Holiday Inns from Orlando (Accross from Disney World), to Vallejo (accross from Marine World), to Vegas- all paid for by you people.

I got rear ended in about the year 1990 and it totaled out my car. It was a 72 Plymouth Satelite Sebring. It was one of those cars that was borderline being a collector car, it was very clean but it was a two door but was only a 318 car. I had maybe $2200 in it. The other guys insurance came through with $6000. At the time that seemed fair but like you, I've always wished I had the car back.

I dated a girl in high school that had one of those. Silver with a black interior. Man that car was just cool to ride around in on a nice summer evening. :)

Here are a couple of interior pictures that show the head unit and gauge pod. Dash cat wasn't particularly happy with me, this was on our trip to Colorado a few years ago with me, the wife and 14 y/o daughter plus 3 dogs, 2 cats and a hamster. At Christmas. For 2 weeks. In a 29' travel trailer. It was actually a great trip, even if it was a little crowded.

Dash cat optional....

Glad they found your truck!

Thanks. I got it back to the shop yesterday, all in all it isn't that bad. Both door locks popped, steering column/ignition broken, radio, one of the amps and my 12" woofers gone, bug shield gone and a bunch of trash inside. Body didn't have any additional damage and other than the theft damage and trash, the interior is OK. I can't get it started, tried running a wire from the battery to the starter solenoid and it isn't turning over. I think the batteries are roasted, I had them on the charger all day, they got to 90%, I ran the ware to the starter solenoid and they dropped to 20%. Either that or the starter got burned up.

Insurance adjuster is coming out tomorrow afternoon sometime and then I'll start cleaning it up and repairing it. I don't know how long it's going to take to settle with insurance but in the meantime, I'm going to get it running again so that I can get back to work and dash cat can go for a ride.

I'm really hoping you will come out whole when it is all said and done...

I think you said your new boots were still in the truck?

Have you tried to jump with a good battery?

Turned out the boots were gone. That was a real disappointment, they'd just gotten broken in...

i could almost see thief red lining the RPM's along with heavy brake usage. and/or tossing extra crud into engine oil / transmission oil / fuel tank / radiator coolant tank if they were extra mean. they ripped what they wanted, and joy ride / trash the truck. but what else did they do to it? that is not really noticable until inspection is done?

ask what to do via insurance adjuster. just let you do it, or do they want ya to double check via some 3rd party mechanic place?

When they stole my brother-in-law's diesel truck, the police recovered it several weeks later. It had a bullydog tuner on it. B.I.L. said you couldn't hardly touch the throttle pedal without smoking the tires. You know they beat the snot out of it.

Why would anyone steal a Ford? I'm kidding of course. Glad you git it back.
