I found a weather balloon out in the woods today

Nothing earth shattering, I just get a kick from finding things like this.
I was about 3/4 miles out in the woods when I saw the battery pack and a plastic box. I assumed that it was something hunter had tossed, but upon seeing the label I started looking around and found the rest of the housing and innards attached to string. It's in the "return to sender" pouch, I'll mail it back tomorrow.

I was hoping to find something telling me the point of origin and date, but no such luck.

You could guess, it came from the nearest national Weather service site. Usually a radar site. A friend of mine used to find them all of the time on his farm, Which is within a few miles from the NWS radar site. They usually launch at least one per day. The little box is a radio sonde. A small UHF radio transmitter.
