PST vs HST

I was just clearing about 1/2 acre of brush, vines and 4 in trees on a hill . I had the kubota bx 24 its HST ran that machine for 9 hours between bush hogging and loader . I have run gear tractors in the past and shuttle shift also . I love the HST .

I've used both and for me the HST is a no-brainer.

The only two disadvantages I see are that it costs more and uses HP. And using HP is really just another way to cost more because it means you need to spring for the bigger engine. But I think it's worth the price hands-down.

The problem comes when you need real power. I don't think they make big HST tractors.

They make big HST bull dozers. Different world altogether.

Most if not all excavators are hst. Most modern dozers are hst. Don't underestimate the power of hst.

I'm not saying that HST can't handle the power. I'm saying that I'm not aware of it being available on bigger tractors. Does anyone sell a "tractor" (wheeled, loader in the front, drawbar, 3PH and PTO in the back) in the ~90 HP range with an HST transmission?

I know BCS makes a hydro in over a 100 hp tractor.

The dozer i have is a power shift (automatic) - but it is by no means new
