Looking for suggestions on how best to protect wiring where it enters the diverter valve on my front snowblower.

The picture shows how the conduit ends before the connector and this is an area where heavy snow and ice can fall from the top of the blower.

Not sure if the black piece on the valve assembly has some sort of weather seal where the wire enters, but from the outside the end is open and an area for moisture to enter.

The split conduit is too short and I was prepared to replace it with proper length and simply cover the last 6" with shrink wrap tubing

Any other suggestions on how to protect the wires and prevent moisture from entering?

Thanks

Remove the compression nut and see if the solenoid is NPT, if so get an appropriate NPT to compression air fitting and a suitable size airline and run the wires in that to a suitable spot. If that doesn't work get some thin sheet metal and bend an 'L' shaped piwce that will go behind the solenoid and cover the wire end out 4-5" or so....Mike

There should be a rubber grommet that compresses when the ring is tightened up. The split loom should be pretty snug when this is all done, not that the split loom will keep the water out. You know water, it can get about any where.

You could just silicone up the hole to get those connections weather tight after you use that heat shrink tubing.

Good luck.

Start wrapping where the nut goes into the housing up to your wires
With "electrical tape", that should do it.

I used liquid electric tape to seal mine, and used heavy silicone outside jacketed wire for the connection (the stuff is a pain to cut when you want to). No need for split loom on it.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I worry about damage to wires/solenoid by the large pieces of heavy snow/ice that fall over the top of the blower when cutting back high snow banks.

Maybe Mikes suggestion will be what is required. Still pondering best approach and hopefully have another 3-4 months before the snow begins to appear again.
