I snagged some pallets from one of the places near work. They frequently put them out to get rid of them, but I normally drive a Civic (45-ish miles each way). They've been there for a couple days, so I took a chance and drove the truck. Will put a couple upright and top slats on them to stack them full. They're a bit small, but should still be useful. <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/files/owning-operating/434119-tractors-wood-show-your-pics-img_20150724_094355282_hdr-small-jpg"/>
Did someone say 'pallets'?

The rain and cold keeps coming here in East Coast Canada so I decided to go fetch a 1/2 cord of firewood despite the elements. Blocking up where the tree falls and dragging the tree if it is far away with the winch then bucking and loading on the trailer saves tractor time compared to snigging with my winch. I would have to make two trips to get a half cord out. Took 10 minutes of tractor time to get out a half cord.

That's a fast tractor - 2 trips in 10 minutes. I would get a slower one and enjoy it more!

Yeah... kinda want to call BS here. I can't do anything in 10 minutes. Most of that time is figuring what task to do first. Two trips? I normally get sidetracked on the way to the first trip! Com'n man!!! You surely didn't do any bucking in that short of time. If you did, you need to educate the rest of us. :confused3:

HE did say 10 minutes of TRACTOR time, not 10 minutes total time. Plus, it was only one trip, since he loaded the full half cord in his trailer. I can easily believe 10 minutes of tractor time, if it's not a long drive from the tree back home.

IT sounds like the same way I do it, though I wouldn't make it in 10 minutes of Tractor Time if I had to winch the trees out of the forest to the side of the trail - I'm not all that fast at winching, since I'm often setting a self releasing snatch block or two to winch around corners.
