Rotary Cutter i have a S300 HF Bobcat, Need a heavy Duty Rotary brush cutter to cut 8". Any idea's?

Your machine is not large enough for the task you need to do. You need a saw for 8" material, not a brush cutter. I'm not even sure most Fecon heads can do 8" trees.

"Up to 8" trees intermittently", and I can tell you from first hand experience (I sell heavy equipment for a living), you dont want to use your machine to cut even 6" trees.

I just spoke to the guy's over at Skid Steer Solutions, and they said at 37 gallons per minute, I could run there Typhoon Brush cutter, that will cut 8". Have you heard of this mower ShowroomShine?

I've heard of this brand and cutter, and the reps for the companies I work with have said that it is a good cutter. However, just because the cutter can do 8" material does not meant that you *want* to cut 8" material. Your machine does not have the hydraulic cooling capacity to perform the tasks you are trying to put it through. Plus, even cutting 6" material in a skid steer with a rotary cutter is EXTREMELY hard on a machine.

Its kind of like you *can* use a recip saw to cut an angle on some trim, but that does not mean its the correct tool for the job.

So you think the cooling system on a Bobcat will not handle a mower with this power? If not, what machines would you suggest is out there, will handle this performance? As the reviews on the ETERRA Typhoon are awesome.
Maybe ASV or Caterpillar? I hear there cooling systems are good.

One person said this i think. But why not a good chainsaw?? You can find really talk expensive ones for $2,000 on craigslist or look at a outdoor power store

I have way to much to clear, and need to get the stumps into the ground as much as possible.
A chainsaw would take a year to clear what I need to. Thanks for the input.

My point exactly, just because you can doesn't mean you should. For mulching (not brush cutting) that size continually you need a big machine. We use a TV140 http://tinyurl.com/oryg85g with a Seppi mulching head http://tinyurl.com/oryg85g at work, mind you it's a far sight bigger than you want but that's a true mulching head not a brush cutter.
Not saying that Exterra is a bad unit but I can see it beating a skid steer to pieces as well as heating it up, ultimately tho it's your dollars...Mike

Hi Mike,
The problem I have with the Mulching heads is the cost of Parts. With Rotary mowers sure you will not get the material mulched, just chipped but the cost of blades are far cheaper than Mulching teeth.
Rotary cutters seem to be a little better on the machine as well. Good Mulchers are $30,000.00. Nice big Rig you have, thanks for the input.

ASV PT110 is one of the only machines I think could stand up to this abuse.

What I'm saying is that the machine you have, with *any* rotary cutter is not going to do what you are thinking. Your machine is not large enough, with enough hydraulic horsepower, or cooling capacity to run this type of equipment to cut 6" + material.

Hire someone to do it, you could get allot of time with a mulcher for $10K.
