I didnt have a camera with me (my cell does not have one) but i passed something yesterday on the interstate that had me thinking it couldnt be right.

A Jetta (non-wrecked mind you) was strapped to a 16' landscape trailer with 2 3" ratchet straps. now when i mean strapped, i mean one over the trunk, and one over the hood.

No other attachment was made. I was baffled that someone would think this was an ok way to secure a normal (tires inflated - non-wrecked) car.

... If you are wise enough to use the trailer controller to pull it back in during an emergency, then more power to you. I doubt most average folk could pull that off.
I used to practice it in case it happened (practice using the controller, not making the trailer sway). I guess there was a time coming around the south end of Lake Michigan in a blowing lake effect snow storm when I did actually use it. The guy riding shotgun was white as the driven snow :D I was younger with far better reflexes at that time. The older me can say I wouldn't create that situation now, it was self inflicted.

If find that the categories of 1) Lazy or 2) Stupid cover a lot of what you see in this thread. Other places too.

OTOH, it may have been considered wrecked..... ex. up here VW transmissions are real spendy, even used - they might have just wanted certain parts off it.

I was talking about the vehicle brakes - the brake pedal. Most inexperienced people jam on the brake pedal and that is the beginning of the end, as you know. If you are wise enough to use the trailer controller to pull it back in during an emergency, then more power to you. I doubt most average folk could pull that off.

If you are old enough, you might remember when brake controllers had big levers. We were taught to use them because both the truck brakes and brake controllers were so crude, it was easy to get into trouble (and really load up the trailer hitch) if you didn't brake the trailer first. I don't know if I could use it to stop a fishtail today, but I concentrate on not having to try.

Depends on which way he is going. Driver goes flying when near axle goes up the step or the far axle goes down. That's a long lever.

He is driving forward. I saw his act of stupidity in a YouTube video, and I screen shot it. He went flying but not as far as I hoped. He went up about three feet and landed in the basket.
