Hello,

I'm looking at possibly buying a new 47 hp New Holland, a Boomer 47 with hydrostatic drive. I need hst because of my disability hst makes a tractor accessible. We grow 5 acres of veggies and raise hogs and goats on pasture. So disking, bed shaping, cultivation, mowing are our big tasks.

So my primary question does anyone have experience with the Boomer line and/or is there any big quality difference between New Holland and Kabota?

Any other comments and suggestions are welcome

Now you have opened the worm can. NH vs. Kubota. Don't forget to look at your LS dealer as LS actually makes the boomers for NH. I have owned both NH Boomer (when it was made by Shibaura) and Kubota's. They are both good in my opinion. But if I wanted a Boomer I would save the money and get an LS. I have a Kioti now .:)

Though I have been very happy with both the Kubotas I have owned, I would consider the advice of James KOua carefully.

LS make really nice equipment.

Nothing against NH but I really like the two speeds in all ranges that the Kubota HST+ has.I use my tractor mostly in medium range and toggle up or down as needed.

I will be the first to admit that Kubota's HST plus. Does seem to be a next generation advancement in hydrostatic transmissions. Of course it is only on the more upscale Grand L series of tractors. Not any of the "standard" tractors. I can definitely see the value in it. It is not just "bells and whistles" .

Around here the LS tractors cost as much and in some cases more than NH. There are only 2 dealers here and both have a bad habit of switching brands every couple of years. I think NH has the 2 pedal hydostat and Kubota has the rocker. Just had this talk about this morning at a dealer. I won't say one is better than the other but test drive both of them

I did not know NH was built by LS. Is it a simple rebadge or does NH add components?

The big issue might be there is no LS dealer/shop around here. There are both NH and Kabota within 40 minutes drive

LS doesn't make all of the NH compacts, but most of them. The Boomer 47 is an LS XR 4046 with slightly different headlights and decals. NH also uses their own FEL.

Around here (actually within about 2 hours of here) an equivalent Boomer to the same LS machine costs anywhere from $7-10K more. When I bought my LS R4047H ($21,500), I got a quote from the nearest NH dealer that was over $31K. I decided to keep the $10K in my pocket.

My LS was perfect for 215 hours and I only sold it to go with something much bigger (backhoe).

One thing to consider is that with LS authorization, you can have warranty work done on an LS at any Case/NH dealer. They also sell the same machines painted red, and marked as Farmall B series machines.

Are you looking at cab or open station?

An XR 4046 with FEL, dual remotes, draft control, rear work light, trailer 7-pin, SSQA for the FEl, and extending 3pt lift arms and stabilizer bars is under $25K locally.

The same machine with a cab is just a bit over $29K.
