I am a Kubota guy, but my uncle has a ck25. I used it to bush hog today, and I had to drive it about a 1/2 mile to where I was working. Even the slightest hill would severely bog it down. Then if I went down a steeper hill the the transmission would just let it coast down the hill even though I never let off the HST pedal or touched the clutch. Then at the bottom of the hill it would coast almost to a stop with the pedal still held to the floor, and almost die when it tried to take off again. I was running max rpm. When I got back to the barn I put the tractor in 4WD low range and held the positive traction lock. I pushed against a stump, and the tractor could not spin the wheels. It was turning 3000 rpm and lugged until it died. My Kubota L3240 HST, and a friends L3130 HST can pass this test. The old Kubota L2550 GST can pass this test in 5th gear. It was pretty wet today, so it didn't have super good traction. The loader works good, the PTO has enough power to run a 60" tiller, the 3PT hitch works good, and the power steering works good. The tractor has 290 hours, and has never worked any better.

I don't have this tractor model and assume you are talking about a hydrostatic transmission, The first place I would check would be the hydraulic fluid level which I'm sure you've done. What also comes to mind is the service record, Has the HST filter been replace at regular intervals? Has the tractor had it's fluid replaced at the specified hours of operation?

Other than what I mentioned above are there any signs of hydraulic line abrasions or kinks anywhere? Hopefully there isn't a hydraulic pump issue.......

One other question, What gear range was the tractor in when you had this issue?

It is a HST transmission. It doesn't work correctly in any gear range. I tried the wheel spin test in low. It is not my tractor, so i don't know when or if the oil and filter has been changed. The tractor was bought new, and has NEVER worked any better. The dealer has came out and worked on it, and they claim there is nothing wrong with it.

There's something wrong with it alright. My CK35 for one doesn't behave like that.

I'm curious why you're posting this, are you looking to fix it, just complaining, or what?

I'm not going to pay to fix it, and my uncle is probably too cheap to fix it. I would like to know what is wrong with it though.

Is this the way you would address an issue with your Kuboatahs or the JD? You haven't done any problem resolution at all and just throw this vague problem out to a tractor forum.
I think your problem is bad gas?.... that's what I smell anyway. :)

Are you in low range? Can you hear the tranny going into relief when you try to test it? How fast does that happen? Is it different when pressing pedal real slow?

Cheap enough to try another filter. Then the fluids. It's due anyway at 300 hours.

I remember reading where one or two others had similar problem and it was a bad tranny. I think in one case when they split the tractor there was metal slag inhibiting hydraulic flow. I'd be all over the dealer on this even to the point of going to another dealer.

I have zero HST experience but I'd be inclined to check for an air leak into the hydraulic circuit. Perhaps at the main hydraulic filter or plumbing upstream of the charge pump.

Supplemental: After re-reading post #1, I retract the above comment. I missed the point that the engine actually bogged down when he tried to start moving from a standing still.

I also would be all over the dealer to find and fix the problem. If the dealer says nothing wrong go to a different dealer this is not how its supposed to work and nothing like the 3 different ck 25 and 35 machines I have driven or the CK35's I test drove when shopping for a new machine.
