Using clutch as a brake?

   / Using clutch as a brake? #101
I reckon in the end it doesn't matter because for the most part it has been entertaining

-Don't say that, I'm anxiously awaiting to see the results if slowly releasing the clutch makes a difference vs. dumping the clutch.
Don't give away the answer and spoil it for me.

Yep, that's what I guessed back in post #31. Showed hand with the "I don't understand what my wife means when she says I ride the brakes" was too far over the top.
I guess it's a good thing that there really aren't people this.....uhm......what's a polite word....?
I've always been taught the only stupid question is one that isn't asked. ;) so if being ignorant of many things concerning tractors is a crime, I stand guilty as charged. lol

Showed hand there and several other places, but if he just happened to be for real he very seriously needed some help. I am sure most if not all were skeptical from at least post #8.

At worst it was entertaining.
I appreciate everyone who contributed to this thread. I read every post, clicked every link and watched every video. :) I learned a lot!

I agree I've been skeptical from the beginning but it's hard to tell..what's second nature to some is foreign to others. He's either very clueless and in need of some one one training or he's being a jack leg wasting people's time when they could be helping someone that's really needing help. I reckon in the end it doesn't matter because for the most part it has been entertaining
this whole thread started from a simple question I had after reading my manual cover to cover. the day I drove my tractor home was my first time ever sitting on one. I've driven automatics my whole life so I've never had to use a clutch. whenever I want to stop my truck, I simply press the brake until it stops. the couple of times I tried that on my tractor never felt right. therefore, I started pressing the clutch to stop moving since it felt more natural. however, I heard of people having to replace clutches so I wanted to make sure I wasn't using it improperly. everything else has been lagniappe. ;)

it seems like that should lessen the initial jerk since it won't start moving as quick. that's a nice looking tractor! was the dealer charging the initial owner 2k for the clutch job or did you negotiate the price down a little?
I believe it would have been a $2k job, but yes the price was negotiated down fairly on condition.

If you are not messing with us then you obviously don't get offended easily. That's a good trait to have.

Okay, okay. I've gone back and forth several times regarding if this thread was real. But like they say: "If you see it on the internet it must be true!" As such I apologize and won't question your sincerity anymore. And it is an interesting thread. :)

wow, 2k is a game changer! I might seriously consider buying another tractor at that price. what did it do before you changed the clutch?
