Miller 211

I will chime in again... and a still a newbie but will say... get a decent auto darkening helmet. The pro's (Shield Arc and the ilk...oh and he is a master) don't need that but I love not having to flick the helmet down and wonder if you have wandered. The more expensive helmets have a larger viewing area but not sure why one needs a larger field of view... I am looking at aa pretty small area when I weld (again... maybe I don't know what I am talking about). Consumable tips, etc. you can get more as needed but the spool gun is something that you probably won't buy unless you have to (but when is that?). Get a cover for your your unit... keep it clean (this is the last welding machine I hope to buy). Didn't think tanks fell under the deal... so... Gloves? I think you ought to try them out... do a fit check. I like 'clothes' that fit... gloves included. Do this at a local welding supply if you can. I am picky here.

Any notice a few days ago (or that is when I saw it) that the 211 now has a smaller size, and is about 40 pounds total weight now. I wonder how it is going to compare to the other one they had.
I about pulled the trigger when they had the free spool gun with it, but kind of had an idea in the back of my head that something was up, and it was, a new model. :)

I got mine last week. Weighed 91 lbs. According to the sticker on the box.setting it up now, and hope to try it out this weekend.

I think you got the older model that they were giving the free spool gun away with. The new one looks to be about half as high, with a cage, or handles on each end of it. I really liked the size, and looks of the one you got, it looks like my Diversion 165 Tig welder.

Here's the new 211. Millermatic® 211

Yes, that is the newer one I was talking about. I would like to hear from a few when they get it, and see if they can tell any differences, good or bad over the old model. I know it is a lot lighter and smaller in size.

Anybody got updates on their new 211? I'm looking at one and would like to hear.
Thanks

I have 211 bought it when miller first introduced it, its a solid machine but IMO it is not very good at welding aluminum, not sure what it is but seems much smoother on other machines like the miller 252 or Lincoln 256

I'm new to welding and used a 211 (older model) in a class I took. I read a lot of reviews online between the new vs the old model and also read a lot on Hobart and Lincold. I thought I wanted to find an older model of the 211 but after reading a little more on both machines I decided to purchssed the newer 211 today. I found what I believe was the best deal ftom cyberweld dot com and walked into my local Airgas and showed them and they matched the price including what I would have saved on sales tax plus they threw a #80 tank...... I just had to pay for the fill but the tank will be mine. I will get a $400 rebate and a free Miller helmet.
