I think the best solution in Croatia would be to sleep on the property with a loaded weapon and either dogs or geese to let you know when intruders appear.

While we had many break ins at our lake I was never bothered.
I made it easy to see the contents of my cottage by leaving the curtains open in such a way that a thief could see what I had.
Anything of value like TV, vcr, etc etc was not visible from that one opened 'forgotten' curtain.
We made it a routine to stow out of site any good 'pawnable' items.
We also had a gate at the top of the drive that forced a perp to walk down just to have a look see.
During those times more than a few were visited as often as 4-5 times a year, generally early spring or late fall.
On the other hand I also provided frequent work for the locals so they sort of spread the word that I was a good guy.

It's an excellent idea if you want to a) go to prison or b) get sued for everything you own - and lose or c) both.

I think this is the kind of post that should be deleted by mods, spelled correctly or not and little smiley things or not.
