Not to hijack this thread always nice to have a Bat flying around in the living room with 3 teenage girls and a screaming wife.Swatting at it with a tennis racket makes great fun.Great mouse stories you folks have, got me laughing.
Bat tennis tip: A backhand from behind is a far more efficient stroke then a forehand in front of the bat.

We had a mouse in the bathtub (empty) Wasn't able to get my hands on it so I picked up my ancient 16 year old Jack Russell terrier ( Amiee) and dropped her in the tub. Aimee came alive like in the old days and the mouse left this mortal coil in less than a second. Aimee was a young vibrant pup again for a while. I'm glad she could have that for a while. In the fifteen years we have lived here we never had any rodents of any sort in the house, best rodent control ever. I lost her in December she was 17, and this year their moving in. Squirrels in the out buildings mice in the house bats in the attic. I miss that dog.

Probably ought to get another one!

We have two cats, so no mice in the house or garage ever. Once in a while one will come into the garage, but they don't last long. Even crickets or any bug of size is a goner too.

Living in the country I have made peace with the mouse population. I spread snacks around the house where the pets can't get at them. short time later, no mice. Decon works wonders. Mice do not stink when they die from it either, slight musty smell for a day or two is all. I keep the bait trays spread around whether or not there is a mouse population.

This was the only time the mice have gotten into the house and it should not happen again. I hope. :) I have come to the conclusion I am going to have to put out bait as well. The mice have made numerous nests in the tractor over the years and have chewed through a wire and recently they chewed holes in the tractor's air filter housing.:mad::mad:

We had a rental log cabin that came with some 'mouse access points'.
One couple rented it for 10 years and were very nice but city folks.
We were very up front about the critter situation so that was not a problem.

One day while leaf raking I discovered about 100 sprung and rusty rodent traps out the back door.
I think they were buying traps by the dozen!

The way a woman lets out a true yelp of fear when startled by a critter or something amazes me. I always thought it was just something they did in movies...until I met my wife. When I'm startled, its silent. Well, maybe that quick involuntary inhalation sound. But she actually screams. It's just a short blast, but it freaks me the heck out!

Hence the term "scream like a girl". Yep some of 'em really do just that!

My wife is a former city girl. When we moved to our farm she was not terrified by mice but had no idea how to deal with them. First she would call our neighbor to dispose mice from traps. (I was working out of home for about 200 day per year). Then she graduated to using gloves and thongs to dispose them. Then just gloves and later on she would just grab them by tail and throws them to garbage. Since I am retired now it is my job to kill spiders, crickets and dispose mice.
It took for a while to learn that you don't leave junk food in the car while parked in the garage or spill dog food and leave it on floor. One time I needed to remove rear seat to accommodate large item and found about 10 lb of dog food and bunch of pretzels there.

Another use of Decon. I keep a tray of it in the trunk, under the front seat and in the engine comparwtment. Much cheaper than trying to replace chewed wiring.

I looked at the mouse "swimming" in the bowl and then I looked at the wife and asked what did she want me to do? :confused3: She said, and I quote, "Get the mouse out of the toilet." Ah. Ok.

I would have asked her ... did you really eat that for dinner last night!!!!!

We moved to a house on 5ac of hills and oak trees in Feb 2014. Brought along a young neutered cat, who sweeps the house as soon as we let him in at night. The wife really likes how he catches anything in the house from small bugs to large tarantulas. Loves to play lizards to death, too.

When we added a garage/shop outbuilding, I started watching Craigslist and got four kittens. They live in the shop at night, and roam the property in daylight. Mice and gophers have pretty well cleared out, and I started parking my tractor in with them to save the wiring. Gotta bring them in at night so they don't get eaten.
