Now I'm sanding the logs on the inside. I don't really like doing it at all. I'm using a wire brush on my drill and it is so dusty. Hard to see. Hard to breathe. Oh well.

Wearing a respirator? You should.

Yes, I always wear a respirator, and goggles, and hat, but it still hard to breathe and hard to see. I will be very glad when I'm done.

I picked up a new refrigerator today and when I got it unloaded and into the kitchen, I realized its 69" and the space is only 67".
Dang, I hate when I do that. I'll call Home Depot and see if I can exchange the cabinet above it; a 15" one instead of the 18" I now have.

Good to hear. A fan or blower in a window or door can also help the situation a lot. Just keeping air moving helps, but is not a substitute for a mask. It just helps keep the dust load down.

One time we were doing a dusty job at a pharmaceutical warehouse. It wasn't near a window or even an exterior wall. I used some very heavy tubular plastic for exhausting most of the dust. It was about 36" in diameter and I connected it to the discharge side of a fan and ran it outside. That worked pretty well, and for the most part kept the dust localized.

The plastic was something I picked up years before that at a mom & pop plastic bag maker's place that was going out of business. I got several rolls and it has been very useful over the years. A few wraps of duct tape to close the end and it makes plastic bags of any length. It is just large enough to slip a twin mattress into for trips back and forth for college kids.

Finally finished the Varathane on the interior logs. Now it's on to the floors.
