I lost the lauder arm hydraulic oil drain plug and naturally the oil too. It is located right side of the tractor just under the loader controls. I didn't even know that it existed. Any ideas what type of plug I should use. Is the body of the tractor being used as a reservoir for the loader
I owned a 202, also called a 'Workbull', for several years. They fit their name as they are hard working industrial tractors, easy on the ages and we could get away with moving 1300 lb bales of hay with someone standing on the back as dead weight. Issues though were traction. I wished I had kept that tractor looking back as it was a good tool for small jobs but would have added rear wheel weights and chains. They command prices of. $3k to $5k in our area in working order.
Of your question, the loader should (is) self contained, meaning it has its own hydraulic fluid. If you're talking about the drain plug on the side of the loader, sort of at the end of the yellow beam at the bottom, could be fitted with a common pipe plug from Home Depot. I'm unsure on the plug thread but have worked on those and do not recall anything being machine thread or metric. Use Teflon tape to seal and try it by hand first.
On loader fluid, we used common hydraulic comb tranny fluid. Do not by the cheapest as there are clear quality differences. Just look at the oe spec the fluid supports. On the cheapest TSC fluid I've found dirt and the coloring indicates not so hot grade, compared to spending $10 more for higher oe spec oil.
Of the difference, 202 to 204, I believe the 204 has a hydrostatic tranny of some sort. The transmissions were prone to issues but only after heavy use. Searching for used Workbulls in the past, most of them either have power steering or tranny issues, or both. Owners would suitably work those tractors into the ground. Make certain to keep your rear transmission oil clean and full. For that fluid you'd best researching the exact oe spec, but again we used common mid grade oil without a hint of issue for years.
