Hi-Point Firearms: 45 ACP Handgun - Black

I would love to have a nice 1911, but that's somewhere down on my list of priorities. 200+- bucks for a Made in USA 45ACP is quite doable, if it's as decent as the reviews I've read say that it is.
I've heard some good third hand reviews, just looking for more input before I pull the trigger.

I have shot some (real early first ones here in Ohio) back a long time ago & thought for price they were OK and worth the $ vs something that does same thing that costs 2~3 TIMES as much as the HPs. Not tried the 45ACP a 40 and a 9mm ones few years apart.

I shot some of the early ones out in a 9mm and found them to be heavy . Never owned my own . I would add extra green and buy another brand of pistol. However I have shot many rounds through a HP 9MM carbine and really liked it 995 TS. Their carbines are very accurate and perform flawlessly . Just MO.

Heavy, bad ergos, terrible trigger, terrible finish, terrible sights, terrible gun.

However, the ones I've shot all shot extremely well and the warranty is second to none.

Look for the Taurus PT111 for $199 for a better gun.

I've got 2 of them chambered in 40 caliber, as someone else said heavy a little awkward till you get used to it, but they have both fired every time I ever pulled the trigger and never jammed, at the time I got my first one I wasn't willing to spend an arm and a leg for a pistol to beat around with and I wouldn't be scared to buy another one if I had a need. My dad didn't always have the best 'gun sense' (don't mean that in a bad way regarding the HP ... it was other deals he did I was thinking of) and had a few of them. They make a good truck/vehicle pistol or an additional gun to keep stashed nearby like a garage or shop. If something happens to it you won't cry about it. They have their place. Never had a problem with them.
