I have used their batteries in my vehicles, but has anyone used Interstate for Hilti 24V tools? They are having a good sale and the price for the TE-2-A battery was too good to pass up. Love my Hilti stuff but they're too proud of their batteries, IMO.

I would NEVER buy another interstate battery again. My last purchase of one for my 2006 ford F-150 lasted a whopping 3 years the price was $164 bucks. Went back to a($134) DEKA battery which have provided up to 8 years of service.

I bought two new Interstate's for my Powerstroke. Can't remember the model number, but they were the big cranking amp ones. Lasted one year and had to replace under warranty. I fell for the hype......or they ain't what they used to be?

Thanks. I know their car batteries are about on par with Walmart. I was just interested in their batteries for power tools which, in all honesty, I dodn't know they made them. A couple a bucks more than Ebay price but I figured (hopefully) they're American made.

Don't know about the tool bats, but if they are NiCad, you might as well forget it. And they will have to be the same chemistry to charge in your charger.

Funny how battery brands start out great and then fade into junk, like Diehard, Motorcraft, Exide and now, apparently Interstate.

So what is a good brand? Inquiring minds want to know.

That is the never ending mystery when it comes to buying batteries. It's likely that buying them by weight, the heavier the better, for an equivalent size or group, matters most. Or look for the best warrantee from the easiest to deal with company. Or buy the big new name when they first come out, such as when Diehards first appeared, and then Interstate. Good batteries in the beginning.

But just when I was convinced that the worst batteries were Delco, because I had some of them fail way early, I bought an Isuzu truck with two of them in it and they are still OK 20 years later!!!!

I'm also convinced that any batteries not regularly used should be kept on a smart battery tender. But absolutely not on a ferroresonant charger. At least you'll get the best out of whatever battery you have.

Hilti is proud of their stuff. Good quality in my opinion but I understand where you are coming from on battery cost. I don't know any specifics on quality of the 24v Interstate brand but definitely compare Amp hrs to make sure you are comparing apples to apples. For higher dollar rechargeable batteries, I tend to stick with the brand matching the tool. They seem to last long enough to give me value. I have been pretty impressed with Dewalt 20V system. Again, no scientific evidence but it seems to me over the years, the cheaper batteries are subject to shorter life especially if I didn't recharge them wisely.

Watching this to see how it turns out. I'm a fan of Hilti also.

I have resigned to the belief that batteries are being designed with planned obsolescence. My old Chevy Delco battery (1978) lasted nine years. My first cell phone battery (1999) lasted eight years. My old boat batteries (2002) lasted 10 years.

Now new Diehard in my car (2012) lasted two years ($324). Napa battery (2010) in truck lasted 1 1/2 years. Interstate battery (2009) in my tractor three years.
I have decided to go with Walmart batteries and just keep replacing them on warranty every three years since they have one of the best warranties offered now and better prices.
