Take a look at this thread I just started, as I am just doing my 50 hour service:

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...44920-kioti-hydraulic-fluid-reference-nx.html

I believe the fluid Threepoint suggested would be just fine for your Kioti, I would call the fluid manufacturer to see what they recommend. After doing a bunch of research on this, I think basically any fluid compatible with hydrostatic transmissions (it will say transmission/wet brakes/hydraulics or similar on it) is fine. They all have quite similar lubricative properties, so I don't think an expensive fluid is necessary nor will it prolong the life of parts.

Thank you, that is very helpful. Do you plan on draining all the hydraulic fluid as part of your 50 hour service?

I did, only because the tricks to remove both filters without draining it seemed like a pain in the butt, so I planned on draining all the fluid. The Kioti manual's chart appears to say you do need to replace it at 50 hours, but then another page of the manual and my dealer both say to re-use it. I drained it into a 5 gallon pails and I have to say that there was a decent amount of fines, as to be expected. (Most I've ever seen is my Mom's Honda lawn mower.)

I used spirax for my 50hr swap and I wasn't that impressed. It seemed thin, especially for the front axle. Now I have chevron 1000thf in and it seems better but a bit thick in winter... I think for my 400hr service I'm going to go with a full synthetic which is thinner than spirax when cold and thicker than the chevron when hot. Petro Canada has some with a very high viscosity index, nearly like a hydraulic fluid.

What type of synthetic fluid are you looking to get?

The Spirex TXM is available at Wal-Mart. At least down here. The local oil company carries the Mobilfluid 424. Both about the same price at 68 and 69 dollars for a 5 gallon pail. I used the Mobilfluid 424 last time, and probably will again.

Looks like twospoons lives near me, too bad he hasn't posted lately. I'd sure like to know how he is enjoying his Kioti NX.

0w-30. BETTER. And that's the thing, it's the lower number that matters when talking about cold starts. Engine protection and oil quality is yet another issue, address by higher-end oils. I am unlikely to be alive when I reach the point where any nuances in oil quality (as long as an oil meets what the manufacturer states then it's then only a nuance) is going to matter.

DELO 400 LE and I'm done! (all my diesels run this) Meets Kioti spec. Most important is that you change the oil on time (or in accordance with your working environment), change the oil filter and allow for proper warm-ups and cool-downs.
