Husqvarna 450e Bar Oil Leaking at case seam

Has anyone experienced a leak at the seam of the bar oil tank? I have tightened all the bolts I can find. Thanks in advance for whatever help available.

I don't know exactly how it is designed but I know that when you over-tighten the bolts it will deform the casting and make the leakage worse. What you need to do is either replace the gasket (if there is one) or use polymer sealant (like is used on engine oil pan). Before you do it you might check flatness of the removable part of the oil tank.

Thinking it was all plastic tank and crankcase. No bolts to tighten like a split metal crankcase. I use Seal-All for plastic tank seams.

I have seen this before in the shops, wondering if I would ever get the saw apart afterward, (should I ever need to).

This is your crankcase and it dont come apart. it is all plastic.

I had a 029 come in with cracked oil tank. Choice was replace crankcase or redneck it with the sealer. Been 2 years and still sealed and out there cutting firewood.

I have used this on many oil tanks as well as fuel tanks. I might add that proper application is critical.
I always drain a fuel tank and flush with straight gas. Set in sun until completely dry. If possible, I have a special scraper with small head and long handle that I try to rough up the INSIDE surface. I always apply to inside, if possible.
Clean well with a rag saturated with lacquer thinner, wrapped around a stick and allow that to dry before applying sealer.
Application is just as much trouble as cleaning. I just apply with chopstick--LOL.
I have never had a failure--yet.
