Need advise on buying new Lawn Tractor. Kubota GR or BX, JD, or ?

A couple of thoughts about your situation. If whatever you get is mostly for mowing, the BX-type tractor does a nice job but the high-end JD X machines are hard to beat for grass cutting duty. Conversely, if there will be more non-mowing chores, the little sub-cut tractors like the BX can do an amazing amount of work considering their small size. That little tractor is like having 3 strong buddies on hand to do your lifting, pulling and digging for you. I've lost count of how many times my little BX has enabled me to do things that would have otherwise been impossible to accomplish by myself.

The related thought is that many of those chores involved lifting something heavy, and that's where that loader on the front has been most useful. Unload a 300 lb tiller from the bed of the pickup? Piece of cake. Take a wheelbarrow load (or 3 or 4), of landscape rocks to the far end of your place for a project? Done in minutes, without throwing your back out. That loader is about the handiest contraption since the invention of the flush commode. You'll find uses for it that simply wouldn't have occurred to you otherwise.

Agree with Grandad - you shouldn't miss the chance to have a loader. The single most useful function for a small tractor.

It's a tough call. The Kubota BX2370 with 54" "Drive Over Deck" is about the same price as a X739 with 54" with Drive Over Deck. And the 739 has 4-wheel steering with 4wd. But the Kubota can add a front-end-loader and has a rear 3-point hitch/PTO standard.
This will take some more comparison time and thought.
BTW, Kubota is offering zero percent financing for up to 60 months.
You know how they used to say, "Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM?" Look at the size of Kubota's market share, then look on here for complaints about problems.

The 0/60 financing is through Kubota credit and includes some implements from 3rd parties like Land Pride. I hate owing and pay them quarterly in advance, but it was too good a deal to pass up.

Get something with a loader, you will not be sorry you did. If you go used get one with a loader, you may not be able to find one that works on it later and could be very expensive to add a third party brand. About any brand SCUT tractor you get will do a good job for you, there are actually just a few manufacturers that make them for several brands. Good luck in your search.

I prefer the x749 4x4ws diesel with 3ph and 540 rear pto for my residential use. Good for mowing, raking, seeding and fertilizing. Some light snow removal and driveway maintenance. The BX is a better model if you need a loader though, it has more capabilities beyond mowing. I have tractors and backhoe for the heavy lifting jobs and prefer the mower to be light and without ballast. That said if you have one machine go the all purpose route with a BX larger model. If you have a separate tractor with fel go for an x700 Deere or zero turn with a lighter configuration.

I'm with you on this. Having a Loader and 3-point hitch/rear PTO really adds possibilities. I need to go over to Kubota and get my hands on one. I hope it has a folding ROPs.

I think I'm going to get the Kubota BX2370. I got a price of $12,500 (with 54" drive-Over deck but without the Loader) and the 0% financing. I may add the Loader now or buy it for cash early next year.

So, would you guys advise getting the extended warranty ($600 for one year or $950 for two years) on the BX2370?

As I retired diesel mechanic I'm pretty good a fixing things (and I think I own every tool ever made) but I'm getting old now and don't like busting my knuckles anymore, and if something big goes wrong the cost of the part can outweigh the cost of the warranty).

I usually don't buy extended warranties of any kind - and I think the Kubota line has a real good build quality - so I probably just answered my own question.

I personally would not get the extended warranty.

.

You're probably a careful operator and will not beat the thing to death. I'd skip the extended warranty but look carefully at the "KTAC" insurance coverage, which is excellent, IMHO.

Do you figure the dealer is pretty good re. parts, advice, etc?
