ROPS on a mower is an issue. I've got a huge number of trees, and even without the rops up, I have to dodge almost every one. It get's to the point it isn't functional....JUST LIKE OUR GOVERNMENT NOW.

I agree ROPS are a big pain. I used to hate the headache stopper on my D8 dozer, but when stuff falls glad it was there.
The ROPS are a big pain when you cannot lower them for garage doors or limbs. If I were mowing on a slope like that guy was I would have it up and belt on. Cannot tell for sure from the pics whether the ROP was up or down. The pins look like it was down but without more info cannot determine for sure.

Here's another chance for the OSHA folks to force ignition (or maybe mower?) interlock for the ROPS being up. Of course, many (most?) of the smaller zero turn mowers for homeowner use don't even have ROPS...
My little ZTR has non folding ROPS. It is barely above my head but I am glad it's there. Yes, there are a few spots that make it a pain but I am trying to landscape to minimize the issues. I guess I am fortunate that I don't have an established orchard where it would be a big hassle.

Probably was done, most of those guys keep them down. Stupid that the manufacturers even make fold down ROPS because it just guarantees that they wouldn't be used properly.
That's your opinion. I like the folding ROPS.
If My ROPS didn't fold down I would have to take it off. To many low tree branch's .
At least now with the folding ROPS I have the option to put it up in bad areas.

I keep my ROPS folded down whrn I mow - too many low branches to mow with it up. I also don't use the seat belt. I would want to try to get out of the way if it were to turn over.

I like the folding ROPS on my BX because it won't fit into garage... on the ZTR it is not a problem having non foldable as it is much shorter from ground.

My zero turns roll bar is 6' (72") high in the up position

if you look at the picture of the tree on the slope, you can see the tracks where the operator
came from, it almost looks like he slide down the hill to the building, then tried coming lateral
across the hill and realized he couldn't get back uphill and eventually slid down over the wall.
hope he is ok, shows how quick things can go bad
