Finally got around to setting up the flux core on my dual feeder. I got this Bernard whip with some other stuff that I bought and thought I might as well give it a try. So far so good, but before I buy a bag of tips and some nozzles I thought I'd get some opinions from some other users.

Mysfyt. Wish I had a dual feeder!

I have two 400 amp Bernard's with Centerfire tips. Just started using one lately with ."045 Lincoln Outershield. I like the gun but don't have enough experience to notice any drawbacks.
For smaller, lighter gauge projects and tacking I'll use another machine with with a smaller gun.

I know its not a very good picture, but can you take a guess at what amperage this gun might be?

If I had to guess I'd say 350-400 amp. Bernard doesn't make any obvious markings as to determine amperage ( that I've noticed).

BTW nice looking weld!! Are you using gas shielded flux core? Wire size ? Amps? Volts?

Thanks! I would think that amperage would hold up for a while.

These are the specs: Kiswell 71TM .052 flux core/straight Co2/27 volts/ Miller XMT 304

Bernard are one the best guns on the market. Easy to change consumables and liners, no set screws.

I'm pretty certain Arc Weld would know how to determine gun amperage...?

I have a Millermatic 210 since new in 2004. I've never been happy with the thing and can never seem to get it adjusted just right so it "sings" to me.
Obviously you can tell I'm no professional welder but I build some stuff and always repairing things. I googled problems with the 210 and found little to no issues so I called my buddy over for a beer, he owns a welding shop in town.

He advised me that the Miller guns are not very good so he ordered me a new Bernard unit.

Now my welder sings to me. Best $300 I've spent on an upgrade in a long time. I was ready to trade the welder for a new one but it's got very few hours on it.

They have a nice chart about options and sizes on their site.

Looks just like my Bernard Q-300 250amps. Have two of them and they are flawless.
