Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I agree the portable hydraulic systems are decent and useful. I wish I could find a "how to" book that teaches tricks of the trade however. Pulling is easy and the spreader works well but I'm sure someone out there on the interweb must have some interesting applications and experience to impart to the rest of us.

+1 on this. Or a youtube video. Would also love to see something similar for tricks in using a 20-ton shop press for unusual applications, e.g., tips on how to brace and support, or fashion DIY dies, for odd situations. But I could say the same thing about a host of specialty tools and equipment. The more I learn, and the older I get, the more I realize I don't know. It's actually quite humbling! :)

Got a new catalog yesterday to peruse while on the pot. Wait a minute - Brush Mower??

It's not on the web site yet but the manual is online for item 61623. Self propelled, appears to be set up like a single speed 2-wheel tractor. Solid 21" blade. $599.99 in the flyer.

I'm not saying it's good or bad, just an interesting development.

VERY interesting! Do you by chance have a pic or scan of the ad?

I saw that too. Looks like almost like a DR field and brush mower clone (but I'm sure you can't switch up other attachments).

Looking at pages 8 and 9 of the manual, it looks like you could switch attachments if they made others.

Yes, I have a DR. It seems to be a pretty close knock off. The handles are different but the basic idea and design are very close. I rather doubt HF will sell other attachments but the DR can be run with the bush hog, a finish mower, a snow blower or a generator. The DR costs about two grand these days so the HF is probably worth looking at.

Isn't the DR belt driven with a vertical shaft engine? Looks like the HF is shaft driven with a horizontal shaft engine.
