Diesel prices in your area?

I've been up in some very remote areas of Canada for the last 11 days. On average Diesel has been $3.86 per gallon while 87 octane has been $4.39.

Funny thing is I don't see many diesel trucks here. I'm driving my 06 F350 and my buddy is in a 08 Dmax 3500. We traveled 4 hours to a decent town, 7000 population, and I counted 300 gas trucks on the drive before seeing another diesel. We then went to 3 stores, grocery, Walmart, and Canadian Tire and we saw 2. The hotel I'm at, a Holiday Inn Express has 1 in the lot and it's from Kansas.

I would say around Indiana 20% of the trucks are diesel but up here it's less than 1%.

Makes me nervous buying fuel wondering how long it's been in the ground?

Dinosaurs became extinct about 65 million years ago, so a long time. :D

Yeah, prices across the midwest for diesel are on the upswing. Two major reasons... more is being targeted to build up home heating oil reserves, and there are some refineries that are primary sources for the midwest that are undergoing some maintenance stuff right now. So the midwest is having to take more from other refineries and those refineries are the major source for other market areas of the country and we are getting "hind tit" and having to pay a higher price.

So there is a decrease in production, but no shortage. People are not lining up for rationing but the price is going up simply because the mfg decides to make less even though it has no effect on demand.

So much for the law of supply and demand.

I paid $2.169 for diesel at a truckstop casino yesterday. The truckstop casinos are always 10-15 cents cheaper than any other fueling stations.

My local Valero, where I buy most of my diesel, has been at $2.199 for a couple weeks now. It seems to have leveled off for a while now.
