Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

You wont be disappointed, I have a full compliment of its largest brothers. They are GREAT! I know the Nay Sayers around here will balk, but how fancy of a toolbox do you really need? Doesn't it just need a way to store your tools in an a way that seems logical to you and with enough space to handle what you want in there? Also when mine is full it moves from one side of the garage to the other no problem any further than that and you are needing a different type of tool box anyway.

The drawers could be just slightly less smooth than a top name but I don't buy it for how smooth the drawers are I bought it for capacity and storage.. Both of which it has plenty of. ;)

I had to purchase new tool boxes for my job a little over a year ago. I compared those to several other brands. They were considerably lighter, thinner, cheaper and didn't roll all that well, and my job requires me to roll a tool box around a plant several times a day. I also compared good, better, best at several other stores. I concluded that these at HF were good, but I needed better, but not the best. I went with something else at another retailer... and its wheels failed out of the box!

I know ... I have the grey set without the ball bearing drawers and that's OK, I'm not real picky, but that price is the best I've ever seen so they reeled me in with that one! In the same coupon booklet they also have the 20 ton shop press for like $154 and I think that is the best I've ever seen too.

You really have to page through those catalogs and booklets... that shop press is listed for two different prices in the same book. I see that a lot in their ads for lots of different things. Buyer beware.

I noticed that too.

Come on we all know the stink is all the coal and petro chemicals that's used to blacken the rubber. :D

We have a DR mower at the Orchard...I will look to see the belt setup. I don't exactly remember (because I don't walk I ride). It usually goes to the summer help to mow between the Christmas trees we have planted in goat country. They are just to big now to brushog thru the rows with a +40hp tractor.

I have always wanted one of HF tool boxes. They are labeled US General is that correct? That has always been a quality product name as l have known it. And I believe JC Whitney once marketed products with that brand name also.

Package damage! Now that has been my biggest problem with any big product delivery from freight but its not limited to them. Have a grand worth of crapsman rollways that were delivered damaged and had to send back for replacement. Put the blame where it belongs I say.

So I guess if I wanted one I would want to take the 100 mile round trip to one of my nearest stores and open and inspect it right there too.

I bought that small greenhouse kit many years ago when it first came out and I needed to order it twice to get enough undamaged parts to build it. Again shipping damages so who is to blame? Plus got double billed until I returned what was left over too. It was decent unit overall after all the issues were sorted thru though.

I'm not their biggest fan by no means...but they have their place

Their gasoline engines and associated equipment like water pumps etc. are intriguing

Pretty sure you won't see the press lower than $154. I bought one a couple years ago for that price. Watched it for some before buying and since. Make sure you get the newer model (grey not orange). Better quality. Can't remember offhand the model number but for some reason #60603 is stuck in my head.

I'd rather have a Lister but we all know who put the screws to that!

Is that the new 20 ton that splits in both directions? I've been hearing good things about that one and have been watching it.

Yes, it is.

Here is a thread on it.

I know this isn't Tractor related but I bought a Motorcycle lift table from HF over 6 years ago and it has performed flawlessly.

I just picked up the newer-style, grey 20-ton press last week, after looking at them off and on for quite awhile. 20 Ton Shop Press - Hydraulic Shop Presses on Sale Paid $159, with a 20% coupon. Yesterday got the mailer with the super coupon for $154.99, so I'll take the receipt and the coupon in within 30 days and buy myself something nice with the $5.00 refund.

This press seems to be very nicely made for the money. Now I'm looking around for projects to use it on this week!

BTW, my press has the top beam nicely welded to the uprights, rather than bolted. Everything is plumb and square. I just noticed that the picture in the link I posted shows the top beam bolted on, which I wanted to avoid, fwiw.

My first mod was to swap out the bottle jack for a HF pneumatic one. You will understand after pressing a few things.
