Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Take in a 20% off coupon and see if you can get a $70 refund!

I think you're right to get in early and find one not dented. On the final day of their parking lot sales, what's left isn't worth it.

I was there last night lusting over it. They had them up at the front of the store by the registers. When I was checking out with some other stuff I played dumb and pointed to them and asked if you could use a 20% coupon on them. They didn't know so they scanned one and scanned a coupon they had and their system wouldn't take it. I wonder if I could come back later for price difference??? Don't you have 30 days or something?

The coupons say not valid for tool storage but we've read here that some stores don't enforce that. Since you asked them to scan that coupon and the register rejected it, it sounds like that's the final answer.

I have found the the cashiers to be very helpful. Often overriding things to give you the best deal. When I bought the 8 by 10 greenhouse she honored the 20% coupon on the sale price even though it said not applicable. It's probably hit and miss. Use your charm.

How do you like the green house? I've looked at their larger one several times in the catalog but never seen one in person. I figure it would make for a nice addition for the little lady growing flowers.

Well, I was weak. I bought it today at the $349 price ... I didn't wait for the $297 price.

I've missed over a week of working on my backhoe mount due to the crazy rain we've had so I reasoned that $50 wasn't worth it to go be in a big crowd trying to pick out one that wasn't beat up and by the time the sale rolls around hopefully this rain will be out of here and I can get back to work on my project and not take time out of my day to save $50.

So I wimped out!

That's OK. After you put some tools in it let us know your impression of the quality and how you like it. Harbor Freight used to be nearly all US General stuff like this. that was the draw in the early days before all the Chinese stuff.

I have a strong feeling this will be my next impulse buy

Just remember , that one is only 26" wide compared to the 44" standard big guy. I bought the 44" topper in 2013. I will say that dude is HEAVY. They even used a lot of that old process we used to call welding and "real steel". :confused3: Remember real steel tool boxes before they became made of flimsy tin like a dog food can or cost $4000? I will say I love mine. The only thing is a couple of the drawers don't slide in an out like they are quite supposed to and they haven't broken in or changed in 2 years. Who knows , some day I may pull em out and fix them.
IIRC they ship with the drawers installed. I would try to make sure they all rolled properly before taking it home if possible. I noticed that these are the tool boxes that everyone loves over on Garage Journal. At least the ones who don't want to pony up $4G for a too box.

Yes, very happy with it especially for the price. I made a few mods/reinforcements for the structure and automated the watering, venting, etc. Here is the build thread I did Spring 2014. It was a lot of pieces and work but I had fun. I'm a tall guy so the little HF 6 by 8 foot I thought would cramp my style and I knew my wife would grow out of it. Just be prepared to do a little extra to stiffen it up.

I have two HF 6x8 greenhouses end to end making a 6x16 with a door on each end. It seemed to triple the space inside. The bottom is mounted on a frame of two 2x6 boards and a 2x4 flat on top to gain inside height.

Yep, save your receipt. If within 30 days it goes on sale for less, or you bring in a super coupon specifically featuring it, they'll refund the difference. I did that with the 44" chest a few months ago for a $20 refund. Then spent it on lunch.

I anchored mine down with 4x6 pressure treated timbers. Was afraid the wind could pick it up and blow it over! Still trying to figure your math Bruce, ha ha. No I get it.
