Hello to All,

I have a 1996 M5400S w a front-end loader. I have replaced almost every original hydraulic hose, but today was a first.

When I went to lift the frt-end-loader, I saw h-fluid, but none of the hoses were leaking, it was coming out of the end of the left cylinder [from the drivers seat] where the where the real shiny silver shaft goes into. I am assuming this is a seal ??? Is there something I can do to verify this? Or, is there something else to check?

The fluid was leaking out at drip of every other second or two. It was not gushing, but it was leaking.

I am not sure of the exact front-end-loader model #, but it did come w the tractor when I bought it brand new at the end of 1996. If this is a leaking seal, is it complicated to replace or do you need any special tools?

Thank you and pls let me know what you guys think? This is new territory for me, so I want to make sure I am doing the correct thing here not matter which way I go.

Regards,
tstex

its a seal, any hydraulic shop can fix. spanner wrench would be nice if you do it yourself.

It could have the LA 1001 or the LA 1002 loader. The seal job isn't hard to do, but I would do both cyls at the same time because of the age. The other one might start leaking soon.

Definitely do all the cylinders at once. On my BX, all three cylinders had a seal failure within the same month.

I have the LA1001 w an extra lg bucket.

Can someone pls point me to a .pdf of an exploded view of the cylinders? Is there also a 1-2 page tech guide on what to do? I have a total of 4 cylinders: 2 up top for the loader arms and 2 for moving the bucket. The sizes are diff so I guess I will need 2 diff sets, is that correct?

Thank you, tstex
