JD 2210
It's finally time. My 2210 is 11 1/2 years old. Cleaning it up for end of mowing season (and start of snowing season) noticed a large tear/bulge in the front tire. I have the Carlisle HD field Trax (HDAP in JD lingo). Looking more closely it appears both front tires are extremely weather checked . Time to go shopping. I keep the tractor indoors but 11 years is pushing it I think??? Anyone who's had to replace tires on one of these sub compacts? I've never owned a lawn tractor long enough to replace tires. My dad had an old Ford/ Jacobson with 20 year old tires... do turf tires last longer than ATV tires???

I still have the original tires on our BX1500. More than 11 yrs, 2300 hrs, mostly outdoor storage - and they are fine. Not Carlisles tho. Bridgestone I think.

17 years on my 4300. Hard to understand that you kept it indoors and the tires weather checked. Puzzling to me.

Could there be something producing ozone in your storage location?

The 20 year old tires on my B7100 are in pretty good shape. The 7 year old rear tires on my L3240 are in mint condition. The front tires have experienced some tread loss, but have zero cracking. I wouldn't replace the cracked tires until they blow. They likely have plenty of life left and are expensive. It's not like they are going to leave you stranded on the side of a busy highway when they blow.

No. I keep it in an unheated garage in Minnesota where temps fall to minus 20 inside the garage (-30 outside), would the cold affect longevity? The tractor is used mostly for mowing but also for plowing snow, lotsa lotsa snow.
Also used for light dirt work, material handling with the loader, occasional heavy loads.

The one front tire with the rip/bulge is going to blow any time now. I would rather it not blow 300 yards away from my garage, and especially not in winter where I have no heat in my garage.

My BX2200 has the original Titans with no weather checking or significant tread wear. It has set outside for a few years of its life but mostly inside.

I just sold my old JD lawn mower that still had the original tires, and was 20 years old. Where were your tires made? I know some of the cheap Chinese tires won't last over 10 years. It's all about the compound they use. I have a couple pairs of rubber boots, stored side by side. One is a 35 year old pair made by LaCrosse (when they were made in USA) and the other pair is another brand import, less than 10 years old. The Lacrosse boots are still in fairly good shape and waterproof. The imports are disintegrating and going in the trash. I'm not saying there aren't good imports, but there's a big difference in the quality of rubber in these 2 pairs.

Yeah ... hopefully one won't blow when you have the loader at full height and filled with something heavy ... ;)

Jus' sayin' ...
