For snow chained turfs on rear and studded R4's on front?

I have rear chains I've heard fronts are not recommended. I'll put weight on the front.

Yes, I was one of those who said not to put front chains on. With snow, and ice, especially ice, it's not about weight as much as it IS about traction. Ice doesn't allow for much in the way of traction for front tires, but tread and type of rubber compound do make a big difference in almost all snow conditions. Siping is also something some do to their tires with excellent results, from what I've read on TBN last winter season.

Loaded turf tires with good chains work awesome in snow. My former neighbor had a Ford LCG with loaded turf tires and super good studded chains. He had a forward drive (Arps I think) snow thrower and could go through about anything.

I always pack down the snow until we get a good frozen base, then put the chains and plow on and plow down to the ice/frozen snow layer for the rest of the winter. Driveway is about 1000' of twisty hills.
Last year I finally added chains to the front as well and hauled fire and pulpwood out of the bush until February. I saw that JD had wheel spacers so we could chain up the front without catching the steering arms....
