Just what is confusing? Does the lack of specificity mean a statement like "legal (?) alien" doesn't qualify as racist?

Do you think Jim Crow era election laws weren't racist because they didn't specify that they were aimed at limiting black voters?

Call me confused too, if you prefer. I can't believe someone would try to stir a pot when there is nothing in it. Just trying to provoke and get something started? You need to move to Baltimore, Detroit, Ferguson, or LA. We hire minorities because of AAP, does that mean we are racist? Give it a break already, dude.

If I stated that someone was an "ill educated redneck hick" I suppose you might reply that race or region was never specified but I'd also assume that some stereotype would pop into your mind's eye. Same for "legal (?) alien" working in a gas station in the Midwest.

In a one square mile region of Boston the attendant might be Irish, Korean, Chinese, Haitian, Vietnamese, Jamaican, Indian, Russian, Romanian, Polish, Greek, Mexican, or Puerto Rican: and those are just the ones I've asked! I like to ask people where they are from, hear some great stories. I don't ask if they are legal as that's very uncomfortable and unlikely to get an honest answer.

There is one thing for certain: not a damned one of them knows when the fuel changes over!
