WOW. A fridge that now has a built in coffee maker.

Next thing we know we'll see fridges that will cook the food for you or will bring your beer too you at your command.

Hey MR Fridge. Bring me a beer. You then see the fridge reach out with it's arms and opens it's own door , retrieves the beer and it brings it too you.

For $3,300, people can take home the GE Café series refrigerator with a Keurig K-Cup brewer inside the fridge door this fall.

Insert the K-Cup in the fridge, slide the brewer back into the water dispenser and choose the size of the coffee you want. In the mood for iced coffee? That option exists.

Over the past few years, General Electric introduced hot water dispensers into some of its refrigerators. The next natural step was adding a coffee maker, according to Mike Mattingly, executive product manager at GE.

With Keurig estimating that their products are on 20 million American's countertops, introducing the K-cup into the refrigerator gives consumers what they want, according to Mattingly.

Big deal! My coffee maker/deliverer only cost $25 for the marriage license 26 years ago. Still works perfect! :D:D

I've never had a coffee maker last more then five years. Not sure who is at fault, but for $30 I can through away the old one for a new one and not have it hurt too bad. Not too sure what I'd do if the fridge quite making coffee, but I have a feeling it would cost a lot more then just buying another throw away coffee maker

My wife and I are getting appliances so we were shopping around. I'm amazed at the prices. There were all sorts of refrigerators that were 10,000 to 15,000 dollars. Insane. But I didn't see nary a one that made coffee.....

BTW, the fridge we ordered was no where near those prices!!! LOL

If I were to put extra $ into a fridge, it would be for thermal performance and the option of DC feed.

Different people have different priorities..... needless to say, I've always valued Function foremost.

Just for general info:

If you buy a Keurig at Bed Bath Beyond, it essentially has a lifetime warranty. You can take it back and exchange it - no matter when it fails. Same brewer is a free exchange, or you can upgrade for the difference. I have replaced my Keurig 3 times. Just last week, since they no longer make the old "Platinum" model, I swapped for a new K550 for about $69. Keep your box and receipt - it makes things easier.

We have used nothing but the Bunn for probably 25 years; I like it because you can make a pot of coffee in about 3 minutes or so. I can't say that the quality of the unit has improved though.

No way would I have a coffee maker in our fridge!
We only got about 5 years out of our Bunn. It started leaking water all over the counter. I really liked the speed and the taste of the coffee though. Now we have a different brand and the taste is almost as good, it just takes a few
more minutes. It's more efficient than keeping the water hot all the time too.

When my expensive coffee maker died, I researched new ones and was shocked at the reviews, aka lack of quality, and prices.

Thought about it for awhile and thought, "WHY are you going to spend money on another $%^&*() machine to heat water?" For a few dollars I bought a stainless steel funnel and 1 quart pyrex container. Figured out that it takes 7.5 minutes to heat a quart of water to about 190-200 in the microwave. Just pour the hot water over the grounds which sit in a basket, which sits in the funnel which drains into the thermos. Best coffee I have ever had. Might have spent $10 for two things I can use else where in the kitchen.

Dan

I like the MTBF of that approach.

Years ago, when my sister got her first apartment, I bought her a manual Melitta cone "machine". It made great coffee.

Good to see they still make 'em

I like that Thermal Pour-Over, will keep that one in mind for our next one....
