$3,300.00 Fridge makes Coffee

With the frequency of coffee machines breaking, I gotta wonder how long this will last? Also, "smart" appliances in general disturb me. Think about how fast that top-of-the-line iPhone lasted? They're obsolete in 3-4 years. The software and technology in smart appliances (and smart cars, for that matter) will do the same thing. Give me plain and simple stuff, please!

Big deal! My coffee maker/deliverer only cost $25 for the marriage license 26 years ago. Still works perfect!

There you go. As long as it works out. My $25 didn't get me such benefits.

But all I do is boil water, pour coffee grounds directly in the water, turn the heat down and let it roll over a minute in the boil. Then filter it into a cup.

No fancy refrigerator coffee making machine for me.

Me too. The simpler the better.

A neighbor bought one of those load sensing washing machines that was all computerized, he paid $1,000.00 for it and it only lasted a few years.

He was glad to get rid of it. It stopped sensing the load of clothes within the first year and he even had repairmen out to fix it. It kept breaking.

He said he was going back to a simple washing machine.

I think he said the tech said it was a bug in the software in the washing machine. lol

I'll stick with my plain old washing machine that requires no software. I just hope they still keep making simple washing machines.

I like technology. But I do think we're going too far with technology.

Not everything should be run by software. If it worked fine/better the way it was then leave it be.

All I need a fridge/freezer to do is keep food and other things cold, I don't fancy technology on it.

There's a fridge that has an lcd screen on it. Samsung RF4289HARS Real Stainless - Build.com

Just something else to go wrong with something that only needs to keep your food cold.

This past summer we bought a SpeedQueen AWN432 washer and gas dryer. It was the last mechanical dial washer they made, now discontinued. I really like it. No digital anything on that sucker! :thumbsup:

Years ago, when my sister got her first apartment, I bought her a manual Melitta cone "machine". It made great coffee.

That is pretty much what I have done with the funnel and coffee basket/filter. The only problem with my approach is that it takes me a few minutes to pour the coffee over the grounds but I can live with that issues. The "machine" aint gonna break anytime soon. :laughing::laughing::laughing:

Too many extras seem to take away from what the main purpose of it is for. Take cell phones for example, mine does everything except allow people to hear me clearly when I talk on it. I've turned it in under warrantee and four months later, its hard to hear me talk on it again. Camera, internet, texting, and all the extras work find, I just have trouble talking on the stupid thing

Worst kitchen appliance mistake we ever made was to replace our dishwasher rather than repair it. The new ones that are "green" don't use as much water, require soft water, and generally don't clean the dishes as well as the old one. We'be been through two new ones in 10 years. Grrrr....

I frequently find a bunch of pocket lint in my iPhone5 ports for power, earphones, speaker, mic, etc... have to clean them out fairly often.
