Recommend A Good Thermos Jug?

I've got most of an old 2QT Stanley SS. I write "most" because the handle broke off about 30 years ago, and I write "old" because it's about 40 or 45.

We routinely take it on our Fulton, Mississippi to Alexandria, Va "commute", which takes 12 to 16 hours. If the thermos is preheated (as recommended) it will keep the coffee hot for about 4 or 5 hours, which by then we've usually drank 1/4 to 1/2. Often, if the coffee lasts, it will still be lukewarm at destination.

I like simple tools that work well for a long time.

newbury. If I remember correctly the old Stanley's had lifetime warranty. Would be interesting to find out if they would replace the handle on yours.

I hate loosing something that works well.

My buddy just got a new Yeti drink container. He swears he put ice and liquid in it one morning at 6 am, he drank the liquid at noon and set it down. The next day at 6 pm, it still had a small amount of ice in it. 36 hours. They claim to be made with a vaccum between the 2 stainless parts. Not sure what else maybe inside.

It is hard to beat a silver lined, glass with a vacuum for thermal heat dissipation.

A couple of years ago my old SS Stanley quit working. Saved it in the back of the cupboard for a year then decided to pitch it. On a whim I sent a message to Stanley first and THEY suggested that they replace it for free. Mine was obsolete so they sent a new model....

They are great about that.

Bought this in 1973 and it still keeps coffee hot all day. When I was logging in the winter I'd put it in a wool sock and the coffee would would still burn your mouth at afternoon coffee break. stanley 002.jpgstanley 001.jpg

Got to love a well used piece of equipment that keeps on working. I guess that is what they mean by lifetime warranty.

When I bought that thermos I was framing houses and 3 days in a row broke $5 ones. Didn't have a lot of money but paid $72 bucks for this one and never looked back. Saved $5 the first after I bought it opened the truck door and it rolled out onto the rd. and down a hill on the pavement with me chasing it big dent but still in tact.
