Those Lincoln tombstones are pretty hard to kill. I don't see an AC-DC toggle or plug-in cables, so I'm guessing AC only...like mine.

For an easy to run rod that will be strong enough for a lot of things, pick up some 7014. If you decide that you need the strength of 7018 rod, they make an AC version that is easier to run on AC-only welders. You can do a lot with 3/32, thought 1/8 is nice for thicker stuff. You can even weld small stuff with the 1/16 rods, though I don't think I'd go as small as auto sheet metal.

I highly recommend getting an autodark helmet, even one of the cheap HF ones. Makes the learning process a lot easier without having to remember to nod your head or flip the faceplate and lose where you are.

There's a couple of sharp cookies over on the welding forum with some great advice. Also, Jody at Old School Stick Welding still Rules. 6011, 7018, anyone? does a pretty good job of explaining stuff and showing what he is doing in the videos.

Welder won't be used actually. Got alot nicer one. But we do run HF auto darkening helmets. Cheap, decent quality and don't waste alot of money when stolen.

Just kinda a update.

Finish mower works great but I don't like hoe noisy it is

Back blade has been used most for leveling the drive and will be for backup plow. Sadly I can't turn it backwards because of my draw bar

Welder hasn't been used and possibly sold tonight

Your drawbar doesn't swing? (side to side)
