It wouldn't seem so hard to find, but I'm searching for a muffler that would fit over a 1-1/4" pipe. I have an old Wisconsin engine and it has the threaded pipe outlet. There is a short stub of pipe and it's 1-1/4". I spent a bunch of time at my local farm supply store and came home with nothing. It looks like a 1-7/8" OD pipe gets really close, but it just fits over the tapered threads and won't fit the straight pipe. Wondering if anybody knows of a source for this muffler???

If you have enough pipe stub you can also get a universal muffler with 1 1/4" ID at most auto parts stores that will slip over the pipe.

Yes, the Stanley muffler is the one linked in the first post. It's the muffler that I used to have. It wasn't all that effective so I had stacked a second tractor muffler after it. Now that the Stanley has failed due to fatigue (inlet separated from the body) I'm looking for something better. I'm thinking of maybe just seeing if a muffler shop can swage the end to the correct size.

I actually have an expander, but I've learned that they work on paper, but just don't have the power necessary to really stretch a pipe.

Have you tried an impact wrench? I have used one with an impact wrench and it worked very well on muffler pipe.

It can also help to loosen the tool and turn it a little and re-tighten it again. And a good extream pressure grease on all sliding surfaces.

Make sure you don't try to expand the pipe too close to where the pipe is welded to the muffler. I've used the expander tool several times. It won't expand the pipe at the welds.
