MF 1736HL
I went to my dealer today (9 hours round trip). I got the final price:

Loader DL125
Rear blower 72" with full chute control
2 rear outs
R4 tires (Unloaded as I plan to do yard work)
Including delivery

$39,500 CDN Thinking this is fair considering the value of our dollar.

Can anyone offer any advice, regarding purchase, before I pull the trigger?

Thank you,

Mike

Can anyone with a 1736 tell me if you can dig a hole in a yard with the FEL?

I can't really comment on the price, but it's a sweet tractor. The machine already weights over 3000 lbs...how much weight would loading the rears add? I have a GC2400....much smaller, and I used it as my primary mower, so I didn't load the tires either. Just make sure you have plenty of ballast on the back for loader work.

You can certainly dig a hole with a FEL...but its nothing like digging with a backhoe. You'll end up taking a couple inches of material at a time...rocky soil can make it tough. Add a tooth bar for better digging.

Look at the piranha bars if you want to dig and I would reconsider the loaded tires if I were you.

Thanks for the replies! The ground work capability was my last concern. I've looked around here for the Piranha bar, but no one seems to sell them. Will keep looking or find an alternative, if need be.

I think I'll call the dealer tomorrow and have it delivered next week. Love new toys!!! Although, I told the Wife it is not a toy, it's a tool.

I've seen pics of oversized spades that attach to a bucket. Depending on the size and shape of holes you want to make, you might consider that.

Thanks! I got the tractor today and tried the FEL and it dug a 5' deep hole, quite easily. Very happy with tractor, so far. However, the Clarion stereo will not load a cd. I get an "Error 3" when putting a CD in the unit.

Glad to know the tractor could do what you want "out of the box". Thanks for the report. I don't have any suggestions about the stereo.

Thanks. I spoke to the dealer and he is sending someone to replace the stereo. We always wonder how a dealer's service will be, after a purchase, no matter what we buy. I bought two Fords in the last year and this MF dealer has already delivered head and shoulders above my Ford dealer.

So far, there are only a couple of things I don't like about this tractor (9 hours on meter). The Hydro pedals are too close to the center hump. The reverse pedal is OK, however the forward pedal forces you to lift your heal onto the hump. The other, minor irritant, was a squeaky 3 point lever. This was a simple fix with a little silicon spray. Also, no cubby holes to store things. Other than the above, I am thrilled with this tractor.
