Oatmeal, serving suggestions

You guys have convinced me that I should get back to eating oatmeal and the like. I always like it but just got out of the habit.

I bought a box of 40 packets of Quaker's Maple & Brown Sugar instant oatmeal today at Sam's Club.

That ought to spike your blood sugar.

Don't you need a little something to get started in the morning? But I don't put any sugar or crèam in my coffee, so doesn't that balance out?

I get my Quaker Old Fashion Oats from Costco in the 8 pound box. It's half price of what I would have to pay at the local store. Along with breakfast, cookies and other foods it will last about 4-6 weeks.

Bird,
Fist comes 1. denial then comes 2. justification, congratulations you are on step 2. :D (You could do a lot worse for breakfast.)

Kind of reminds me of some of the people in line at SouperSalads. They start off with a perfect salad the they hit the condiments and load on the bacon bits and drown it in high fat dressing - justification for that choosing that healthy salad. :confused3:

How about some Frosted Slakes? Tony the Tiger says they are GGGGGRRRRREEEEEEEAAAATTTT!!
Or some Captain Crunch? Crunchy sugary cereal for sure.
All kidding aside, I used to eat both. Maybe that is why my teeth went into the can at age 25.
Captain Crunch I used to nibble on driving down the road, until I saw the light. Now I eat radishes.

I really like porridge (or oatmeal as some call it) but I would only eat it with a bit of milk and copious quantities of brown sugar. :licking: I had to give it up when I was diagnosed with Type2 diabetes. :sigh:

Never tried Captain Crunch, but only recently discovered Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and that's really tasty!:)

I ate that as a kid or swimming in maple syrup! Now I am older, no wiser but older and try to stay away from diabetes which is a deal breaker for me. No more Class A/CDL license with diabetes.

Just got an e-mail from Forks over Knives and it had an easy recipe for oatmeal with picture. Note: maple syrup is optional for those in the transitional stage.
