Sawyer, With the built in hitch that the larger Wallensteins have, I can certainly understand and appreciate your position. But on my smaller tractor it sure comes in handy. And it takes me less than a minute to pin and unpin the blade so it will swing; and I only do that when I need to hook to my wagon. You appear from your photos to be doing some serious skidding and have the tractor to make it work for the large logs. Willie Jones

Then you haven't experienced the fun of trying to drive in very soft ground og over rocks, even in deep snow the blade can be a problem.
If you have a large tractor its not so important but a smaller one its very nice, I have been stuck on the blade of my 3081 several times.

These are scathing reviews of the winches especially the Wallenstein. Anyone know how old the Wallenstein RX 12000 might have been?

If the Wallenstein review was fair, does anyone know if Wallenstein has corrected issues the review exposes?

I am considering a Wallenstein RX140.

MY personal experience with my Wallenstein winch tells me that, THAT report is so far out in left field, it's ridiculous!

There are quite a few Wallenstein winch owners on this site and NOT even one of them has reported ANY of those same complaints!

None of that rings true about my Wally except the blade part.

Cable is very flexible, can be unspooled with one hand.

The blade will sink in soft earth By Design! That's a feature which lets you pull more weight than your tractor. My Wally will pull my 7100# tractor on the last wrap (30' of cable let out) if the blade isn't biting into firm earth. That happened trying to pull a whole basswood top out from between 4 oaks it was lodged in. Pulled up a mound of dirt dragging the machine and the blade.

Why do you carry only 30" of line?

I believe he was referring to how much line was let out, not how much he had on the spool. That is why he said "on the last wrap", which has less pull than the first wrap.
