I bought a brand new Bush Hog 2010 3-pt shredder this week. Not a cheap unit it was nearly 7k.
My dealer brought it out and commented that the diagonal bars that went from the top of the 3-pt to the rear of the machine wouldn't fit. They had to cut a little off the corners by the bolt holes to make them fit. Seemed strange but it was very obvious they wouldn't fit without modification.
I hooked up the machine and went to mowing some crop stubble. I ran maybe one hour and a tail wheel locked up. I pulled the dust cap off the wheel and the bearings were bone dry and the inner bearing was shot. Dealer apologized and said they would make it right but I had mowing to do and didn't want to wait until they opened in Monday so I fixed it myself. The bearing was only $10 so no big deal but I had a heck of time getting the race off of the spindle as it was seized to it.
I got the bum wheel fixed and figured I better check the other side. I pull the cap off and see a blob of grease on the castle nut. I pull it apart and both inner and outer bearings are bone dry. Looks like they assembled it with no grease on the bearings and once the hub was bolted on and cotter pin installed they just smeared grease on it and put the cap on. Glad I checked it.
I wonder what else they neglected.
