Battery Operated Drills - Power Loss??

With an 18v battery running $30 - $70 I have almost decided it is time to consolidate brands. I have a much newer 18v Milwaukee impact driver with two good batteries so I will wait for a sale and get a new Milwaukee drill that comes with two batteries. For about $50 more than a single battery I can get one charger off my bench and carry less spares in my work bucket. Some one at goodwill will get a nice used drill/driver and charger that still works fine for lighter duty work. Thanks for asking.

Just curious, does the drill run and then stop under load? Or, does it run briefly and then just stop? If it runs and then feels like something is slipping, but then runs when not under load I still suspect it might be brushes. At any rate, if you're ready to move on there are almost always good Christmas sales on cordless drills!

It actually works fine both drilling into wood in the HS mode and driving/removing screws in the HT mode, I noticed the problem when I tried to drill some metal and it stalled several times I put in a fully charged battery and that didn't fix it.
The problem you are having is normal as a result of discharging the batteries too much. And, you can get similar problems bt leaving them in the charger long after they are recharged. I have my Milwaukees refurbished with higher capacity cells evey few years when they get weak. Youtube has videos on how to do this yourself. Anther thing I do is take an old battery apart and use the connector to run a cable off of a 12v car jump start battery. Even though they are 18v devices, the 12v with more current produces higher watts and thus good power. I use a 12V 400 amp Victor jump start pack for my semi-portable work now.

Orange Box has a Milwaukee 2606-21 driver/drill kit for $99 right now. That comes one single compact battery. Your going to pay more for twin batteries setups (the -22 kits) and for bigger batteries 4.0 & 5.0. I did get a brushed 4 pole frameless 2607-22 CT kit for $50 off reg. price earlier this year just before the 2 new brushless compacts (non fuel models) were released.
There are some free battery or xtra tool offers out there to sweeten the deals right now (mostly FUEL tools). Standard line is nice but FUEL is awesome!
Just thought I throw that out there.
