Farmer, I was going to suggest the same thing to you, or "Bond" also makes a sweet little derringer that is 45LC/410 Think it is called The Snake Slayer Drew, have you ever tried to shoot a snake with a hard bullet? 410 for snakes, 45 for mammal type varmints.

The judge does give options and is one to add to my list. Although for a wheel gun I might prefer a 38/357. If you can find 38 shot shells they make good snake guns also.

50.6F and clear/sunny @ 12:00 ...

There are a pair of little paws reaching under the door of the room I'm in, accompanied by much pitiful-sounding mewing ...

Got all the PVC plumbing finished up yesterday for the RF UGF, other than filing out some excess glue that might reduce/restrict the flow.

Did a pretty thorough wash down of the glass on the 55g ... actually looks pretty good, although I know it's scratched in spots (rocks)

Used the razor blade, along with toothpaste/baking soda with a ScotchBrite pad to try and remove more of the mineral deposits around the top where the frame goes. Would have done more of that last night, but it looks like the starter for the fluorescent hood light has failed on me ... will run to Home Depot here in a little bit to pick one up after I get my shower.

Got ahold of North Hill Glass and Mirror and got a quote on a piece of glass cut, 3/8" x 2" x 11 1/2" for the top cross brace: $16 ... which includes having the edges ground so they aren't sharp. Be ready either this Friday or Monday.

I also think I have come up with a good way to secure the backdrop in the tank without having to silicone it to anything. I have a bunch of PVC pipe hangers - J-hooks - which were bought at some point or another for some project that never got done. Plan to embed a number of those into the backdrop with the hooks pointing up ... and then silicone some short sections of PVC pipe onto the back glass for them to hook into. If the backdrop has positive buoyancy, the worst that should happen is that it will captured all the better.

This avoids having to silicone it to the filter plates, blocking some portion of them off, and should make everything much easier to remove ... if I ever need to strip the tank down.

Plan to actually start siliconing the backdrop together later today, after I get done running around and doing some outside chores.

Wood stoves sure have gotten expensive. Got a price yesterday and it was almost 3k and I have the chimney pipe already. May go see TSC this weekend. Also now looking at gas stoves.

Rocket mass stoves are cheap and very fuel efficient. You should give it a thought. You Tube will teach you all you need to know.

good drive up to VA, amazingly no burning busses on Rt 95; I turned off on Route 17 at Fredericksburg
and traffic was heavy from there on up. BUT...good thing I turned off, am told there was a 40 mile long backup of traffic from Fredericksburg all the way up to DC. Very happy not to be in that.

very, very hilly here, beautiful long distance views of Blue Ridge Mountains.
Farmer, hope your son is doing better.

Made the run into town. Stopped and paid for my glass - turned out to be $2 less than what she quoted me. Then ran by the property to check on the flood lights in the boiler room - room was 10 degrees warmer (66F) than the ambient temp in the front room, so I just left them on. Some derelicts had bent up one of the (thin) metal posts that holds the "For Sale" sign so I pulled it and replaced it with a 7' t-post (let 'em try and bend that ... :D)

After that I ran by the bank, then Home Depot where I picked up the starter for the light for the 55g, a cheap pin-type timer (to turn tank lights on and off), the glass block mortar, the acrylic fortifier, and two bottles of colorant for the backdrop.

Collected the trash cans/recycling bin on the way back in and fed The Little Squeak some wet food once I got back in the house. Gonna skip any outside activities until tomorrow, as the sun is starting to get low in the sky.

A sad story all around, but good your hand is feeling better. With that unknown history, though, is the dog being tested for rabies?

We made sure the dog had his shots before it hit our shop. It tried to bite the vet!

The Englander stoves sold at Lowes and HD have a pretty good bang for the buck reputation. They are made down south in Virginia.
