Tresspassing neighbors

I would not confront him.
You have your property posted.
You have his picture.
Go to your local law enforcement.
Let them deal with it.

And crop your tractor out of the photo!

It's very important to have good neighbours. That is some scary s**t right there and you have a serious problem on your hands. Best luck dealing with it.

Why is he so scary? Neighbors with criminal intent don't usually go for a stroll with their daughters in broad daylight.

I think taking it up in person is the best approach. For all you know he might have heard a disturbance and gone to investigate, knowing you weren't there. Not showing him the picture seems smart.

Exactly! I always forget how everybody here in the Home of the Brave is so scared. We're scared if we see a gun and yet so scared that we must carry one too.

Serious problem? It's very premature to jump to this or and some of the other conclusions I'm reading here.

That's kind of a disturbing picture. When I first read your description, I kind of assumed that they were hunting or on their way to hunting. But they're certainly not dressed for hunting - no license on his back. So, what's he doing with a gun on your property... and looking into the woods like he is hunting for something. And why's he carrying what looks to be some sort of AR variant on your property? And, what's on his hip? Another gun or some big knife? Regardless, it looks like he's trying to be bad-@$$ to his daughters.

I would definitely go talk to him and record the conversation. And, even if the conversation goes well, I would off load it from your phone and save it to a CD or something. Never know when you might need it. Years ago I had to go back through recorded conversations from a couple of years prior to get what was owed to me.

Don't be confrontational and I wouldn't mention your cameras. Just say that someone saw him heading down your driveway, with a gun and some teen-aged girls on such-and-such date.

Keep us up to date!

It's not an AR variant. It looks to me like a Ruger 10-22 with a big scope and a 30 round magazine.

Hence, they were probably out recreational shooting and just decided to explore on someone's property without permission.

I would go have a talk with them and remind them of the definition of "private property". First time only. The second time would involve the law. Record the conversation.

Good luck!

"Hey let's go say hello to the new neighbor."
"Are you sure it's OK Dad?"
"Yeah I already talked to the neighbors they said he's a nice guy. They said he carries a gun maybe we can go shooting sometime."

----------

These are neighbors, you already know they are not transient goofballs. You know where they live, and they know you know. I was in a situation like that, driving (slowly) up to a neighbors cabin (with my wife &2 kids on ATVs). Neighbor ran into his cabin and came out with a gun on his leg. I've since developed a good relationship with the guy but in the back of my mind consider him a slightly nutcase for arming himself.

x2 on the 22.

He looks like he's from the city. Doesn't know any better.

I stand corrected.

Going back and looking at the picture again (and blowing it up a bit) I agree with you. Should have done that in the first place!! (Not that it matters, ) But what's on his hip? A knife? A second mag?
