I have an idea, not sure if its too much to be worth trying though. Any advice or help here would be greatly appreciated. Here goes...I have a 10+ year old Lowes (yard machine type) vertical/horizontal wood splitter that I would like to convert into a PTO driven splitter if the cost is reasonable. The engine is getting tired, runs fine, but using a lot of oil, plus tired of maintaining yet another engine, and this build would end requests to borrow my splitter. My tractor is a Kubota B7500 hydro, 21 hsp. with no rear remotes. I'm trying to think of a way to use my PTO pump from my backhoe to run the splitter and do away with the gas motor.
Is is possible to put quick detach lines (quick coupler?) on the backhoe/PTO pump to make taking it off/putting it on the backhoe quick and easy? If so, could I then hook the two lines up from the PTO pump to the splitter with similar quick coupler lines, using the built in axle reservoir on the splitter for the hydro fluid source? Any details on how to actually do this would great!
Thanks.
